The August 4 CCYM Meeting held at the Fairmont State University Wesley Foundation. The first order of business was a Fall Workshop planning session. After reviewing the 2006 Fall Workshop evaluations, the CCYM came to new conclusions concerning several different topics, including Free Time, the Dance, and Staff.
A theme for Fall Workshop 2007 was also established:
"MAKING YourSpace & MySpace GOD'S SPACE".
Conclusions pertaining to the Worship Band and Dance DJ were also
established during the first half of this meeting. After a break for
lunch, the CCYM resumed with a devotional, followed by a discussion on
the upcoming year of YSF fund raising. Following that came discussion on
a FW/SYC video, the WVUM Youth website, and SYC pictures. A discussion
and review on Youth 2007 and the upcoming NEJ conference in New York
also occurred during this time.
Soon following came discussion of the Adult Youth Leader Workshop that
is to take place at St. Matthew UMC in Weston on November 3. A
discussion on the "Nothing but Nets" campaign brought this meeting to a
close. This meeting was adjourned with a prayer.
At the most recent CCYM meeting that took place on June 22-23, 2007 at West Virginia Wesleyan College, several orders of business were addressed; the first being discernment of CCYM officers for the year of 2007-2008. Makenzie Hatfield was discerned as the Communications Director, Jamiela Isaiah as Vice Chairperson, Emma Moore as secretary, Laura File as YSF Coordinator, and Connor Kenaston as Chair. The meeting was adjourned that night with a closing prayer.
The next morning continued with discussion on the 2007 Fall Workshop Design Team, tentative CCYM meeting schedule for the upcoming year, Youth 2007, and committee members of the CCYM. Following those orders of business a discussion on the NEJCYM and the election of Michael Ludle to represent our Annual Conference on the NEJCYM steering committee.
A discussion on Mission of Peace also took place followed by the initial planning of a Youth Leader Adult Workshop that is to take place at St. Matthew UMC in Weston on the dates of November 2-3, 2007.
A discussion on deans for SYC and Fall Workshop followed that with the decision that Rich Hogg would remain FW dean and Michael Waide will serve as dean of SYC for the years of 2009, 2010 and 2011. The meeting was adjourned with a prayer.
